Championship Results
July 7-10, 2005 - Noroton Yacht Club, Darien, CT
Friday, July 8, 2005:
Racing was abandoned at the opening of the competitor's meeting at 10:00 AM. The rain from tropical storm Cindy was dropping at a very rapid rate and the weather on Long Island Sound was acting accordingly to a typical Nor'easter. Winds from the NE at 21-23 and predicted to go higher with gust's into the 30's. Well the rain was well over 2 inches and the winds accelerated as predicted. Although disappointing, the RC made the proper decision.
Saturday, July 9, 2005:
This was a great race day with NW winds in the low to mid teens. The racing was tight, the course was just right, and the race committee made sure it was square. The wind was gusty but not too shifty.
Sunday, July 10, 2005:
The racing was just like Saturday, with a little more wind. The chop was a little higher making racing more challenging. All were fairly tired and had good things to say about the host, Noroton Yacht Club and its Race Committee.
Congratulations to Allan Leibel on his overall First Place and to Peter Wilson, our new National Champion.
